Como maestra soy conciente de la situación laboral de los maestros en cuanto el salario y el cargo que implica. Poreso la selección de escuela no fue dificil cuando encontré la Escuela de Español Cooperación que fue fundada por maestros y adminstrada por los mismos. La cooperativa les brinda un sueldo más justo a los maestros a diferencia de otras escuelas en Antigua que estan más orientadas hacia la ganancia.
El curso fue muy variado porque recibí un mezcla de ejercicios audicionales, de lectura, orales y además de gramática y juegos. También fue un curso consecuente ya que el maestro mantuvo una estructúra que contribuyo a un mayor aprendizaje. Tambien fue consecuente porque recibí tareas cada dia y las revisabamos cuando nos encontrabamos
Antes de que empecé este curso recibí un curso de español en Suecia por tres meses una vez a la semana, pero me sentía muy insegura con el idioma y solamente aprendí frases para saludar. Pero despues de tres semanas intesivas en la Escuela de Español Cooperación, de lunes a viernes por cuatro horas al dia, puedo conversar y participar en conversaciones en español. Mi maestro Jorge Mario es una persona muy simpatica y un buen maestro con el cual yo tuve muchas conversaciones interesantes acerca de Guatemala y otros temas entre el cielo y la tierra, en español.
Como maestro el cuida a sus estudiantes y tiene una experiencia larga en su profesión. Si tú igual que yo, quieres estudiar español en una escuela seria y al mismo tiempo apoyar a una escuela local, te puedo recomendar la Escuela de Español Cooperación.

Som lärare är jag väl medveten om hur arbetssituationen för lärare ser ut, både gällande lön samt arbetsbörda. Därför var valet av skola enkelt när jag hittade Escuela de Español Cooperación som startats och drivs av lokala spansklärare. Detta kooperativ ser till att lärarna får en mer rättvis lön än till exempel andra skolor i Antigua som är mer vinstfokuserade.
Utbildningen var varierad eftersom jag fick en blandad kompott av hörövningar, läsövningar, muntliga övningar samt grammatisk övningar och spel, men även konsekvent på så sätt att läraren följde en viss struktur som gjorde inlärningen bättre. Den var även konsekvent då jag fick läxor varje dag som vi gick igenom noga när vi sågs.
Innan jag började utbildningen hade jag läst en spanskkurs i Sverige på tre månader (en gång per vecka), men kände mig väldigt osäker på spanskan och lärde mig mest enklare hälsningsfraser. Men efter tre intensiva veckor på Escuela de Español Cooperación, måndag till fredag á fyra timmar kan jag faktisk göra mig förstådd bra och delta i samtal på spanska.
Min lärare Jorge Mario är en mycket trevlig person och en bra lärare som jag haft väldigt många intressanta och givande samtal med om Guatemala och andra ämnen mellan himmel och jord, på spanska. Som lärare är han väldigt mån om sina studenter och har en lång erfarenhet inom sitt yrke. Om du som jag vill studera spanska på en seriös skola och samtidigt stödja en lokal skola så kan jag varmt rekommendera Escuela de Español Cooperación.

Prišli sme do Antigui naučiť sa základy španielčiny, kedže sme chceli precestovať viaceré krajiny Latinskej Ameriky a bez španielčiny by to bolo náročnejšie a neplnohodnotné. Pred príchodom sme nemali rezervovanú školu. Chceli sme si najskôr spraviť prehľad a až potom sa rozhodnúť. Navštívili sme asi 4 školy a pri výbere sme brali do úvahy veľkosť školy, kvalitu študijných materiálov a samozrejme cenu. Mario nás zaujal veľmi profesionálnou prezentáciou školy. Escuela Cooperacion spĺňala aj naše ostatné požiadavky. Priestory na učenie v záhrade boli príjemné a tiché. Mario a Mily prispôsobili výuku našim individuálnym požiadavkám, pričom skombinovali správne množstvo gramatiky s konverzáciou a kreatívnymi hrami, ktoré nám veľmi pomohli pri budovaní slovnej zásoby. Ich spôsob výuky bol nenútený a zábavný, zároveň však efektívny. Zapísali sme sa do školy u Maria pre začiatok na týždeň, nakoniec sme ostali 3 týždne. Počas týchto týždňov sa naša španielčina zlepšila natoľko, že sa bez problémov dohovoríme na našich potulkách po Guatemale a dokonca sa vieme s domácimi porozprávať o náročnejších témach, ako sú história a politika.
Ak sa rozhodnete študovať v Escuele de Espaňol Cooperacion, veríme, že budete spokojní, tak ako sme boli aj my.

Wir haben zu zweit Unterricht bei Jorge gehabt, da wir zusammen reisen und dies so gewollt haben. Da wir auf demselben Sprach-Niveau waren (keines) war dies problemlos. Da man nicht in einer grossen Klasse sitzt, lernt man viel schneller ist aber natürlich auch mehr gefordert, da man keine Zeit hat sich anderweitig zu beschäftigen. Wenn man möglichst schnell viel lernen möchte, ist dies sicherlich das Beste. Der Unterricht ist sehr einfach gestaltet, was aber das hohe Niveau nicht beeinträchtigt. Jorge war sehr kompetent und wir hatten es sehr lustig zusammen (gehört auch dazu ;-)). Neben der Schule besuchten wir auch einige Aktivitäten (Kaffee-Museum, Aussichtspunkt usw.). In diesen drei Wochen in Antigua wohnten wir bei einer Host-Familie wo wir unser Spanisch verbessern und tiefer in die Kultur eintauchen konnten. Wir hatten eine sehr gute Zeit und haben in dieser kurzen Dauer recht viel gelernt. Wir werden weiterhin den Unterricht via Skype von zu Hause aus weiterführen, damit wir das gelernte nicht wieder vergessen und noch mehr dazulernen können. Wir können diese Schule nur weiterempfehlen.

I came to Cooperacion two months ago with a traveler's knowledge of Spanish and a fervert desire to work my way towards fluency so that I could have interesting conversations and really learn about Latin America from the people who live there. Mily was able to meet me where I was and devised an excellent plan to help me speak and understand Spanish more fully. It was clear that she knew what she was doing as an instructor -- I say this as a professor myself. I am starting a travel business and Mily and Jorge (the office manager and teacher) have been incredibly helpful and supportive -- integrating all of my interests into my Spanish learning through field trips and great conversation. Truly I have enjoyed going to school every day. My homestay is very comfortable and good for more spanish practice. I have been learning salsa and also cooking as well as understanding much more about Guatemala. In addition to having one of the cheapest rates for learning, Cooperacion, unlike other schools, is a collective of teachers so they are all being paid well instead of the owner taking most of the profits. I recommend Cooperacion without reservation!!

De Unterricht sälber han ich super gfunde, ich han Einzelunterricht gha bi de Mili. Sie isch e sehr kompetänti Lehrerin gsi, hät guets Material gha, sehr ufmerksam korrigiert und debi hämmers au no luschtig gha. Aber ich känne die andere Lehrer nöd. Zudem gits au immer wieder Aktivitäte, ich bin eimal is Museum in Jocotenango und eimal uf de „cerro de la cruz“ gange, also zwei aktivitäte i einere Wuche, beides Gratis. (ussert de Museum-itritt natürlich)
So als Fazit würdi säge dass die Schuel vermuetlich die billigst vo allne Schuele in Antigua isch und das ufgrund vom bessere System und nöd vo de schlächtere Qualität, zudem chamer i Gastfamilie läbe und es git Aktivitäte. Aber egal wod unterricht wirsch näh, ich wünsch der e gueti Ziit i dere wunderschöne Stadt!

So, There`s 1 city, there are 100 language schools and every single one of them pretends to be the best. How the hell shall I know what to choose? Well, I am not goanna tell you which ones are the best and which ones are just tourist-traps. But, after a three months test of “La Escuela de Español COOPERACION” I pretend that this school is one of the number 1 places in the world to study Spanish. These peoples really know what they do, and they do it with Joy. Their good sense of humor often made me laugh and sweetened my days. Their teaching system make me learn fast and efficiently. Also the cultural tours and additional activities contribute to make an excellent and unique experience ( special thanks to Maribel for the amazing tours and as well to Jorge Mario for the free Salsa classes and stadium experience). After studying 12 weeks with Milly I not only achieved a progress from zero to an advanced level in Spanish, also have encountered a really good friend. Muchas gracias mi querida maestra , eres la mejor profesora de español en todo el mundo, aunque fuiste tan estricta conmigo y siempre me dabas un montón de tareas. Pero, el resultado es mejor que yo había esperado. Ahora, estoy listo para contar chistes negros y blancos y también para casarme con una chapina ( algún dìa ). Te agradezco mil veces. Klein aber Fein! Seit 2002 war ich nun schon 7 Mal in Antigua, 5 Mal davon in der Spanischschule Cooperacion. Zuvor war ich an anderen grossen Schulen, überzeugt hat mich aber erst die Cooperacion. Die Schule ist zwar eher klein, dafür familiär und bietet nicht weniger was andere Schulen auch bieten. Speziell die Hilfsbereitschaft ist gross geschrieben. Du kannst am Flughafen abgeholt werden, am ersten Tag wir dir alles wichtige in der Stadt gezeigt, damit du dich zurecht findest, Wohnung, Hotel oder Gastfamilie wird auf Wunsch für dich gesucht und was immer sonst noch für Fragen auftauchen, Jorge und Mily stehen mit Rat und Tat zur Seite; sie verstehen auch englisch. Das spezielle an der Schule ist auch, dass es sich um eine Kooperation von Lehrern handelt, die gerecht bezahlt werden. Der Unterricht ist gut, es werden verschiedene Methoden und Spiele eingesetzt, aber die Lehrer spulen nicht irgend ein Programm durch, sondern richten sich ganz nach deinen Wünschen. Einmal, hab ich für ein paar Wochen 3 Stunden Grammatik und eine Stunde Salsa gebucht ;) ein andermal wollte ich speziell den Subjuntivo vertiefen und Guatemaltekische Sprichwörter lernen, alles möglich und zu angemessenen Preisen! Der Stundenplan kann recht flexibel gebucht werden, Morgens oder Nachmittags. Die Lehrer haben Hochschulabschluss, sind zuverlässig, Privatunterricht ist selbstverständlich und Material wird abgegeben. Am Nachmittag bietet die Schule kleinere Aktivitäten an wie kochen, Besuch der umliegenden Dörfer, Besichtigungen der Macadamia- und Kaffeefarmen und natürlich gute Salsalektionen, sind noch nicht alles..... Es ist vielleicht zu erwähnen das Jorge und Mily auch Salsalehrer sind. Je nach Schüler und ihren Wünschen, sind schon lustige, spontane Feste und Reisen entstanden. Ich kann die Schule nur wärmstens empfehlen. Ich habe unglaublich viel gelernt und einen Koffer voll schönster Erinnerungen mit nach Hause getragen, herzlichen Dank!!! Anne (Schweiz) P.S. This is a reference concerning my time in COOPERACION Language school for one month and was under the teaching instruction. During this time I RECEIVED SPECIALIZED INSTRUCTION from Mily in regards to my education and understanding of grammar, the Whitten language, the spoken language and the culture of Spanish. Mily developed specialized lesson plans and activities whish effectively taught me Spanish. Along with the lessons, I also developed a great friend's ship with Mily we had fun together as we each learned about personalities and cultures.

There are many reasons to study with the cooperative? first of all, it is a cooperative and the teachers take a genuine interest in providing quality education to their students since they are the ones who benefit directly from the success of the school. Also the atmosphere is relaxed yet professional. My teacher was able to identify my areas of weakness and provide productive lesson, am now able to dance salsa a wee bit better!

Many schools in Antigua are very similar however in this school the teachers are the difference , they are so warm and generous, they become like family. Wow¡ Well can I say – a lot and in spanish too¡¡. After attending another school in Antigua for 4 weeks, I felt like I Wasn`t making any progress. My 4 weeks at COOPERACION SPANISH SCHOOL, have been amazing¡¡. I studied everyday with both Marta and Jorge Mario. FANTASTIC TEACHERS, they both were active, fun,engaging, patient and most importantly thoraugh. I have learned more Spanish here in 4 weeks then all of my previous studies combined. Einen schoenen guten Tag, Kurz gesagt: diese Schule ist superklasse und ich kann sie nur waermstens weiterempfehlen. Ich habe insgesamt sieben Wochen spanisch gelernt und habe keine Minute bereut. Ich habe mich hier sehr wohl gefuehlt, weil die Schule klein, nett und familiar ist. Ich finde es wichtig zu wissen, wohin mein Geld fliesst? Die Lehrer sind sehr gut und haben viel Ehrfahrung, ausserdem sind die Aktivitaeten klasse? Ja, ausserdem hatte ich Milli, die beste Spanischlehrerin der Welt!! Sie hat den Blick dafuer, was ich brauche und noch vertiefen muss. Ausser harter Grammatik haben wir auch spannende lateinamerikanische Literatur durchgenommen. Ich wuensche euch eine spannende Zeit in Guatemala.

Having studied in another ( more expensive) school per 3 weeks, I came to COOPERACION SPANISH SCHOOL, the teaching was been excellent, I have a better understanding and fell confidence to speak to people. I would recommend Spanish School COOPERACION, to students looking to learn Spanish. After 7 weeks of lessons I feel much more confident to speak more Spanish. The school will tailor the teachings to what you want to learn. If I had more time then I would definitely stay for another month¡¡.

I have really enjoyed my time here at the COOPERACION SPANISH SCHOOL, all of the teachers are very investeed in actually teaching. You to be able to speak the language. My teacher Mily, and I had some great conversations in Spanish. She was so patient with me. The best part was that she never let me advance to another topic until I actually understood and could apply what we were working on. This is for real, If you go to class and practice yourself, you will learn to speak Spanish, I`ve had 2 years at the University in USA, and did not have the confidence to speak. I spent several days in Antigua investigating other schools and I chose the cooperative because:
The teachers are academically qualified with extensive experience.

MY EXPERIENCE HERE
My teacher developed a six-week program around my goals, strengths, and weaknesses. She quickly moved on when I had mastery of a subject, but spent extra time when I was slow to learn. Mily identified my weaknesses and worked (successfully) to help me correct them. She is extraordinary!

CONCLUSION
Beginner or advanced, if you want to learn Spanish, this is the place to do it. I enthusiastically recommend the cooperative with out any reservation.

Das ist eine perfekte Schule fuer dich! Ich habe hier 5 Wochen Spanischunterricht gehabt. Als ich hier ankam konnte ich keinen Satz Spanisch sagen, aber nach 5 Wochen kann ich mich unterhalten und Spass haben! Und alles nur dank Milli, der besten Lehrerin. Wir hatten so viel Spass zusammen, haben viel gelacht und auf der anderen Seite haben wir hart gearbeitet und sie hat mir die Grammatik so beigebracht, dass ich es ganz verstehen konnte! Sie hat sich auf mein Niveau eingestellt, und wenn ich was lernen wollte, was nicht im Plan war, war es auch kein Problem. Die Schule an sich ist klein und gemuetlich und die Ausfluege am Nachmittag oder manchmal uebers Wochenende machen viel Spass, hier sind alle super nett und es ist wirklich der perfekte Ort, um spanisch zu lernen und trotzdem Spass zu haben! Kann ich nur jedem empfehlen! Fuer mich war es perfekt hier! Viel Spass beim lernen und vielen dank an die Cooperativa!
